Popup Blockers - Revisited
There are hundreds of pop-up blockers, which you can get for free or purchase for about $20, They will give you a very good protection. You can get them at download.com. Scroll down to their categories and select Internet ⁄ Pop-up Blockers. Then sort by C-Net ratings or if you like by number of downloads. You can also check reviews from Botspot at http:⁄⁄www.botspot.com⁄pages⁄pop-up-killer-overview.html. They recommend PopUP Cop which looks very good to me. Essential features:
- Pop-up blockers should make a sound so you know they are blocking.
- They should make it easy to turn off the Popup Blocker if the site requires it.
Sometimes you go to a site which popups a second screen or a password entry screen which will look like a popup to your popup blocker. If your blocker makes a noise and allows you to turn it off and retry, then it is going to be a small inconvenience. Otherwise it may take hours to figure out what is wrong.
