Desktop Security
This class takes up where the Internet Safety class ends. Students must either have Instructor permission or have taken the Internet Safety class. We will cover backups, cleaning up temporary files, maintenance schedules and how to automate them. We will learn how to determine all the programs starting up on your computer, how to determine what they do and disable those we do not want. We will learn to close many Windows security openings. Appropriate password and encryption information will also be available.

I'm now working with CC&T - Computer Consulting and Training to offer a computer security class. The recent rash of worms, viruses and Windows security holes is bringing computer security issues down from the concern of big companies to the concern of individuals. Furthermore, codes of ethics and laws are being written holding us responsible for the privacy of information on our computers, and in our emails. Failing to understand these issues and act with due diligence, can leave our computers open to misuse by criminals, our information accessible to thieves, and ourselves open to lawsuits. Of course, leaving your computer vulnerable, also increases the chances that it will be compromised, knocking it out of commission until you reformat your hard drive and reinstall windows and all of your software.
My class will show you how to protect yourself and your data. For a detailed class outline check:
