Security Update Available for Firefox
A security flaw as found in Firefox. The patch was issued on Friday, October 1. You should update to the latest Firefox. If you already have the Preview Release, then you can just click on the up arrow in the right of the Firefox Application Frame or use the Tools⁄Options⁄ Advanced⁄ Software Updates feature for virtually instantaneous update.
Mozilla Firefox responds very rapidly to any security flaw found. Do not let the existence of a security flaw make you think that Mozilla is as insecure as Internet Explorer. It is not.
Secunia, and independent security monitoring organization has found the following problems with FireFox and Internet Explorer.
Open Security Issues found in 2003 and 2004:
- Firefox: 1
- Internet Explorer: 16
Extremely Critical issues found in 2003 and 2004:
- Firefox: 0
- Internet Explorer (V6): 6
Highly Critical issues found in 2003 and 2004:
- Firefox: 2
- Internet Explorer (V6): 15
Clearly Firefox is the safer browser. Next month I'll do an article on browsers.
