More on Phishing
Today I got this:
Dear U.S. Bank account holder,
We want your online experience to be enjoyable and worry-free. That's why U.S. Bank Internet Banking uses various security procedures.
We also want to make you aware of simple security tips about your password and PIN:
Use a strong password. Choose passwords that are difficult for others to guess. Use both letters and numbers and a combination of lower case and capital letters if the passwords or PINS are case sensitive.
Change your U.S. Bank Online Password often. The current password for your U.S. Bank accounts has not been revised for a long period of time and needs to be changed within 72 hours. Therefore, we urge you to do it today. You can do this quickly and easily by signing on and going to the Account Servicing area:
They then provided links to their website to steal my password.
I was protected not only because I understand phishing (see last month's article on phishing), but also because I pre-scan all my e-mail with Mailwasher Pro. Mailwasher Pro checked this E-mail against their database, and marked it as "Known Spam". This is one more reason to consider this safety and spam prevention software. www.firetrust.com
