Web Bugs

By some estimates half of all your spam contains "Web Bugs". These ingenious little critters send your email address to the spammer when you open the email. How? They contain a tiny image file which is stored on the spammers server. When the email message is opened, it goes out to get that image. It also tells the server who is getting the image. The spammer sends back the image, and keeps the address as a known good email address from someone who opens the stuff.

The solution? Don't open the spam in the first place!
